AUDITION: Bell, Book & Candle – 4/5 May 2013

April 24, 2013

Nash Theatre are looking for actors for their upcoming production of Bell, Book and Candle by John Van Druten, to be directed by Nigel Munro-Wallis (audition contacts – see below).

The play is a delightful romantic comedy with rather supernatural overtones set in New York City in the 1950’s.

The plot concerns an on again/off again romance between Gillian Holroyd and Shep Henderson. Gillian is a very stylish New York Gallery owner who is – unbeknown to everyone but her immediate circle – a Witch (a delightfully good witch of course). The romance is complicated by the fact that if Gillian does actually fall genuinely in love she will lose all her supernatural powers. The romance is alternately helped and hindered by Gillian’s rather odd Aunt and her rather mischievous brother Nicky, each of whom have their own powers. Add to the mix a writer named Sidney Redlitch who thinks he knows enough about the underground New York witchcraft scene to blow the lid right off the whole circle and you have a recipe for some wonderful fun and games.

Cast includes:

  • Gillian Holroyd – 25 – 35
  • Shep Henderson – 25 – 45
  • Miss Holroyd – 50+
  • Nicky Holroyd – 25+
  • Sidney Redlitch – Age open

Please prepare a 2 to 3 minute monologue for the audition.

  • Sunday 5th May 10am to 2pm.
